First Burn Rule: The first burn should always melt to the outer edge of the candle which is about a 3-4 hour burn. This is an important step that will extend the life of your candle.

Trim the wick to 1/4". A wick trimmer or nail clipper will do. This will ensure a smooth, clean, even burn and longer lasting candle. This also helps reduce a high flame or any residual soot. Don't burn for more than 4 hours at a time.
